Alert SA Digital Service
These Terms of Use govern access to and use of the Alert SA digital service (Digital Service), including any website, mobile application, and any related online services made available in connection with that Digital Service.
The Digital Service is maintained by the Government of South Australia conducting operations through the South Australian Fire and Emergency Services Commission (SAFECOM).
In these Terms of Use, User means any person who accesses or uses the Digital Service, whether or not they have a user account. Access to and use of the Digital Service is subject to these Terms of Use.
The Digital Service provides emergency information and warnings relating to a range of hazards in South Australia, including bushfires, floods, severe weather, hazardous materials incidents, heatwaves, fire danger ratings, total fire bans, and relief and recovery information.
Certain features of the Digital Service may require a User to create and maintain a user account.
The Digital Service requires an internet connection to access it.
Information Accuracy
Reasonable efforts are made to ensure that information made available through the website Digital Service is accurate and current at the time it is published. However, the Government of South Australia, its agencies, instrumentalities, officers and employees make no representation, express or implied, and accept no responsibility for the accuracy, completeness, availability or timeliness of the information.
A range of factors may affect the accuracy, completeness, availability and timeliness of information, including (without limitation):
- Emergency situations can change rapidly and without warning;
- Information may be delayed, incomplete, unavailable or subject to change without notice;
- The availability and timeliness of information is dependent on external systems, telecommunications networks, internet services and other supporting infrastructure; and
- During emergencies, disasters and extreme weather events, the capacity of those systems and services may be reduced or disrupted.
Other Sources of Emergency Information
Users should not rely on a single source of information during an emergency. Information may change rapidly and may not be available through all channels at the same time. Users should monitor multiple sources and assess the relevance and suitability of information for their own circumstances.
The Digital Service, should be used as one source of information only and in conjunction with other sources of emergency warnings, information, advice and assistance, including:
- Visit the Country Fire Service (CFS) website for bushfire warnings and preparedness information.
- Visit the State Emergency Service (SES) website for information regarding floods, storms, heatwaves, and other emergency events.
- Visit the Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) website for fire-related warnings and information.
- Follow CFS, MFS and SES official social media channels for updates.
- Listen to local ABC Radio, FIVEaa, or other emergency broadcast partners.
- Stay in contact with family, friends, neighbours, and local communities.
- Call 000 for life-threatening emergencies.
- Call 132 500 for SES emergency assistance.
- Contact the Emergency Services Information Line on 1800 362 361 (TTY 133 677).
Reliance on Information
Access to and use of the Digital Service, including any information made available through the Digital Service is at the User’s sole risk.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Government of South Australia, its agencies, instrumentalities, officers and employees make no representations, express or implied, and accept no liability for any loss, damage, cost, expense or injury arising from:
- Use of, or reliance upon, information made available through the Digital Service;
- Delays, interruptions, errors, omissions or inaccuracies in information;
- Failures of telecommunications, internet, power or other supporting services;
- The unavailability of, or inability to access the Digital Service or any linked website;
- Interference with, damage to, loss or corruption of, or unauthorised access to, a User's computer, software, data, information or user account in connection with the use of the Digital Service or any linked website;
- Any translation of the information on the Digital Service or any linked website into another language; or
- Unauthorised access to, or the loss, corruption, alteration or disclosure of, information transmitted through or stored in the Digital Service, including information associated with a user account.
Nothing in this disclaimer excludes any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
Third-Party Websites
The Digital Service contains links to external websites. Those linked websites will have their own terms and conditions of use and Users should familiarise themselves with those. Users access external websites at their own risk.
All linked websites are linked 'as is' and the Government of South Australia:
- does not sponsor, endorse or necessarily approve of any content on websites linked from or to the Digital Service;
- does not make any warranties or representations regarding the quality, accuracy, merchantability or fitness for purpose of any content on websites linked from or to the Digital Service;
- does not make any warranties or representations that content on other websites to which the Digital Service is linked does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any person anywhere in the world;
- does not authorise the infringement of any intellectual property rights contained in content in other websites by linking the Digital Service to those other websites.
Changes to this Disclaimer
These Terms of Use may be amended, updated or replaced from time to time. Users should review these Terms of Use periodically to ensure they are aware of any changes.
